David's Restaurant

On the way to Glasgow from Liverpool, my mom and I stopped into David’s Restaurant for a very late dinner while traveling through Carlisle. The food was wonderful, and Chris, the owner and host, was so incredibly kind and helpful! Highly recommend to anyone either visiting Carlisle or just passing through!

My husband and I booked a table for an anniversary meal. Chris, the owner, is a welcoming, friendly host without being at all overbearing and reads his customers well. The food was simply excellent. Fresh, generous proportions, beautiful presentation without being pretentious. It's all about flavour. The chocolate and amaretto cherry torte dessert rates a special mention from this fussy chocoholic! The decor is simple and comfortable and the atmosphere is relaxed. The dining area is small, but cleverly laid out to create a feeling of intimacy. We felt that the volume of the background music could have been slightly lower, but enjoyed the pleasant choice of songs. Overall, absolutely worth a visit... and future revisits.

What a lovely place to eat. If you want to experience something better than the average, then this is definitely a place worth visiting. The food was absolutely outstanding and the staff were very friendly and professional. I will definitely be going there again.

On route from Colchester to Scotland, we decided to stop in Carlisle for the evening and booked dinner at David's. I am so happy that we did, as it was one of the most wonderful places we've ever dined at. The food was absolutely delicious, from the flakey cod and perfectly cooked chicken, to the wonderfully seasoned vegetables. The haggis pakora and Irn Bru mayonnaise was a revelation and tasted amazing. We finished on a comforting and rich sticky toffee pudding. Not only did we have great food, Chris was a lovely host and made us feel so welcome. We are so sad we don't have this restaurant back in our home town and hope one day we can return to this fabulous place! Thank you Chris!

Again an amazing experience. Food and drink to die for . Service was brilliant remembered us from a couple of years ago. Will be back.

It was our lucky day. Having been turned away by four restaurants because we hadn't booked on a Saturday night, we were lingering outside David's, looking at the menu, when out came the man himself. "I've got a table, if you want it. I've had a cancellation." There is a different menu on Friday and Saturday nights; we chose the lamb duo, which can only be described as exquisite. Mouth-wateringly tender, it was accompanied by an intriguing home-made hash brown, decorated with pomegranate seeds, and vegetables. David recommended the key lime pie for dessert. The match of sweet meringue and bitter lemon and lime was made in heaven. Thank you, David, for a wonderful meal. And next time we come to Carlisle, we'll be sure to book in advance, just to be on the safe side...

Second visit as my mum has been reminiscing about this place since our last travel in the UK. Came to Carlisle specifically for David’s. Walked in with great anticipation and weren’t disappointed. Quality, honest ingredients done right! We ordered the set menus and were hoping to grab a dessert each but was too full by the end of our main dishes, had to go with two to share amongst the four of us. You could tell that the chef and his team put a lot of efforts in designing and delivering the food. Highly recommend!

Fantastic restaurant to eat and soak up the atmosphere. Beautiful surroundings. The staff were excellent the food was amazing. The wine choice was spot on.
